In the last thread I made, I showed off the evolution of one of my flagship CAWs Dru Nedermeyer. Here, I'll show off some of the class of 2009 and beyond. While I haven't made many new caws in volume like I've done years past, that's not to say I've sacrificed quality. Here are the new jacks I've made thus far.
We kick things off with young Mike Maraco, who's inspiration is WWE Hall Of Famer Don Muraco. Nothing fancy to him, he's just a big Hawaiian. A former Football Player who decided to go into wrestling, and got his training at Dru's "Monster's Den" Combat Sports.
Next, we have another grad of "The Den", Mr. Danny Dane. Dane is the son of a manager character I came up with named Marshall Dane. (Who briefly managed Hungrywolf80's Steven Higby character in 2007) As you can guess, Danny's all flash.
Moving along, we have the 3D version of Hakeem Strong, who I initially created on Fire Pro Returns. I based his face morphs on my own mug, though he's not meant to be a complete clone. Overall, the character concept is based on Shelton Benjamin and Kenny King.
Here's one of my personal faves, Kyosei Hidama. While most guys call themselves "Superstars", "Kyo" is the real deal. Why? Because his name actually translates to "Superstar" in Japanese. In facial morphs, concept and persona he's heavily based on Brian Tee's portrayal of Takashi (AKA D.K.) from The Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Next up, we have one of my more ambitious creations, Meng Tane. Meng is heavily based on the new Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires version of Meng Huo, who underwent a MASSIVE overhaul in appearance. In the previous games, Meng Huo had been depicted as a gruff, overbaring, obese character. But in DW6:E he's now a walking mountain of muscle, with a build very similar to Tekken's Craig Marduk. So that's where the inspiration for Meng Tane was drawn.
And last but not least...
MR. Ethan Bain. The story behind the character is interesting. I originally created the character for one of my buds, and one of the senior members of XWA Slice0pie90. (creator and handler of "Famous" Jimmy Ames, one of our most decorated characters) He came to me wanting a character he could use in WTF, and asked if I could whip something up for him. And after 20 minutes of piecing things together, Ethan Bain was born. Of course, he ended up leaving WTF do to lack of interaction, and brought Bain to XWA instead, and Bain's been wreaking havoc ever since. After 2007, I handed off all rights to the character to him, but obviously he still comes to me for ideas on how to tweak things. So...he asked me to rework his original model. He, like many others have moved on to the current gen systems, and the initial 2009 Bain sent in looks good, but not as menacing as the past version I made. So I decided to take the core morphs I used for Liedhamer, combine them with the morphs of Primo Valiante, and make a new body type. And that's what you see above. In game, he's HUGE, but not muscular huge. I've always envisioned him having a Matt Morgan kind of build, which is massive but not ripped, with long limbs. I think I hit it on the nail.
As far as his "The Destroyer" nickname, well...that's going to play out in an upcoming angle we have planned involving the original Destroyer, Simon Fierhart. You'll have to keep your eyes peeled for it over on XWA.
