Gah... >.> This is why no one likes Vince. He's lucky for WWE to even still have fans after stupid junk like this.
Like Pyro mentioned, Vince has tried to boycott e-feds before because we're using the SmackDown games to do it on. But I guess that it never followed through. Which is great, cause I'd hate to see e-feds be shut down because of Vince.

I think he actually tried to charge for it which to me is pretty pointless because I honestly wouldn't pay to be in an Efed at all.

So true everyone does this for fun would suck big time if he tried to get money out of it, be in the vein of those Fantasy Sports leagues, where you pay to create your own teams and what not

Yeah I suppose it would be like Fantasy Football thing not sure how it would work but for fun generally money talk puts people off unless there's a chance of earning money.

To be exact, WWE was going after text based feds that based themselves in the WWE's "Universer". This was about 3 or so years ago. The reasoning was that these feds (The ones that people create fictional characters using the actual pictures of real wrestlers) infringed on the intellectual properties of WWE. Sim E-Feds they couldn't touch, because most of the characters depicted in them are original, and WWE holds no rights to them. And they can't very well forbid video distribution of game content (IE: Someone posting footage of their own personal gameplay using a WWE game) because that's just generally a dumbass move to make. That'd be taking away free advertisement, and would make the very concept of The Highlight Reel mode and anything THQ might come up with similar to it pretty useless.

There's also one bigger reason why sim-feds and CAW shows can't be shut down...because we use games for them that we pay for with our own money. It's kind of a thing where after you buy the product you can do with it what you wish so long as you don't sell it for your own profits, so in that respect we're untouchable.
Now as for text-feds and fansites, it's understandable. A bitchy, corporate move yes, but understandable. Since both have the potential of using copyrighted material, there are infringement issues involved. Think of it like the reason you never see a great deal of professional sports footage on YouTube, because "any rebroadcast or use of images without express written consent is prohibited." It's kind of the same story here, even if in these cases we're talking about people who take the time and money to share their appreciation for certain individuals who just happen to be employed by WWE at this present time.
It sucks balls, but that's how things go sometimes.

I am not so sure of us being untouchable because the ring has a WWE logo on it, to me if they can argue if a person uses Orton's likeness in a text fed then I am sure they can argue people having the WWE arenas and stuff.

Sim feds though I would think are considered fan art which is perfectly legal as long as no profit is made. The only thing sim feds have a potential issue with is music since music companies are uptight about their music getting around without it being paid for.
I mean Vince could try to shut simmed feds down, but as with Mugen if there's no profit it could be considered fan art. Text feds as with fan sites tend to use copyrighted material and are vulnerable to being shut down.

I am not sure about these things so, but I thought using it because it's in the manual not for public display at least in the UK it is so *shrugs* but there is a saying they'll find a way to do it. I know if my youtube account got removed I'd still make videos lol.
