I've seen this before, about a couple of months ago, and I honestly have mixed feelings on it. I understand the purpose of its invention, and the attacker would have to go to a hospital to get it removed, since from what I remember, it clamps in and 'hooks' in, making manual removal... more or less a bad idea, thus helping doctors identify a rapist 9 times out of 10 (other times it could be done out of spite to a significant other for whatever reason).
However, my problem lies with this. Yes, it's going to hurt the guy, a lot, but pain also brings about rage, especially if the pain is brought about by someone else, whether involuntarily or through self-defense, in this case self-defense. What's to say that the rage wont overtake the pain, as it sometimes can do, and lead to the death of the woman through brutal beating or other means?
Rape is usually about power anyway, so him not being able to over power the woman due to the anti-rape tool would lead to him wanting to hurt her more than likely, despite the pain. Now, don't get me wrong, as a woman, I'm all for an anti-rape tool for women, I am just on the fence about this one, as I see it doing more harm than good, honestly.

Yeah I can understand your point entirely, I just found the idea of it kind of interesting. I get the feeling it was actually designed by a man or a feminist. Not meaning to offend anyone by that. I can see they were trying to make it a good thing, but as you meantioned it could result in deaths.
