This really was the last thing that I needed at this point. I am currently at the house of Mr. Showtime's brother. Earlier today, while in town with Mom to pick up her medication (she recently had a double surgery), we get a call from our neighbor telling us that our house is on fire.
My heart dropped at that moment. And my Mom broke down as we started to drive home. We got there to find about fifteen vehicles there, firetrucks and volunteers alike. And I could clearly see smoke coming out from the top of our house. I jumped out of the car and a cop asked me if anyone was in the house. No one was, thankfully, but then, he told me the worst part.
He said that it was probably caused by the gas stove on.
And it was my fault.
Before we left for town, I was going to make some french fries (I'm a fatty who loves food, you see) and Mom suggested we go to town to cash her check and stuff like that. The bank was about to close, so we hurried up and left.
So, my leaving the stove on is the most probable cause. The firefighters also suggested that there could have been a gas leak in the house, which caused the fire to start.
I still blame myself.
From what I've gather from being in the house:
They busted down our front and back doors, which were both locked. Shattered glass in our back door. The kitchen is absolutely destroyed. The window in the kitchen is also smash. Half of the ceiling in the kitchen is burned away. Half the cabinets are gone. But, the firefighters got there in time to stop it from spreading, as it was nearly to the bathroom and my room. The house is covered in black shit from the smoke. I'll probably post pictures of it when I go back there tomorrow.
Sorry for posting, if this bores anyone. I just wanted to get it off my chest since it's really bothering me. But, thank God for insurance. I'm hoping everything will get be covered, which I believe it will.
But, this was really not what I needed. Or what my Mom needed. She's had two double surgeries in the past four months. She just got released two weeks ago from her last one and she is still very sick from it.
In short, this blows.
Thanks for reading. I just had to get this off my chest.
