Got word from someone deep inside THQ and here is the scoop on abilities this year
saw that people are wondering how abilites are earned and if they can freely assign them. *The answer is yes, abilities for Superstars and CAS' can be set freely within Create A Move-Set and Superstar Management. *Some of the lesser powerered abilities will be available at the outset for CAS characters but in order to earn the more powerful abilities (Resiliency, Kip-Up, etc) you'll have to earn them by increasing certain individual attribute ratings

Related, boo for attribute ratings.

It does kinda suck about the attribute ratings. That pretty much means you'll have to build up each individual CAW to a certain level to unlock the ones you want for them. Depending on what attribute THQ assigned what abilities to, it could be a very bad thing.
But, at least we don't have to grind through Career Mode in order to earn them since you can gain attribute points in any mode, whether it's Exhibition, RTWM, Career, or even Online. Should be MUCH easier to build CAWs up that way. Especially since you can put 6 CAWs in one match and not even have to play as any of them for them to gain stats, win or lose.

Yep! If done right, it could probably be implemented into a fed as well.

Yes! A double post! Cause I'm cool like that!
Anyway, an update to the abilities since the full list in 2010 is out now. I'll separate all this up into 3 categories.
OUT KO Table Match Cage Match Ladder Match Bloodshed Submission
STILL IN Dirty Pin Evasive Dodge Lock Pick Referee Shield Move Theft Steal Taunt Hammer Throw Object Specialist Resiliency Durability Kip-Up Fan Favorite Outside Dives Springboard Possum Pin
NEW Fired Up To Initiate - Hold R1 + press Triangle when your momentum is at maximum. Description - With this ability, you are able to execute up to 3 finishers in a row
Ring Escape To Initiate - When grounded near the ropes, press L1 + Left Analog Stick toward the ropes Description - Escape to ringside when grounded near the ropes
Exploder TB Attack To Initiate - Immediately before reaching the corner, press Right Analog Stick in any direction Description - Jump onto an opponent who is standing on the turnbuckle and execute a grapple move
Pull-Back Attacks To Initiate - Press Square of Right Analog Stick during Irish Whip Description - Pull your opponent from Irish Whip stance into a grapple or strike move
Strong Strike To Initiate - Hold down Square Description - Execute an especially powerful strike attack
Hardcore Resurrection To Initiate - Press Triangle while holding a chair Description - Gives you a moderate increase in health while making your superstar bleed
There ya go, folks! Those are the abilities for 2010. There is some speculation on the Kip-Up ability on whether or not it still gives you a finisher when used. Considering the Fired Up ability allows you to execute up to 3 finishers, the ability could simply be to get you off the mat so your not in a pinning situation. But, as stated, pure speculation at this point.

We've already come up with our gameplan for how we're building and excepting caws in 2010 for XWA. We have our system pretty much figured out, it's just a matter of releasing the info to the member base, which we'll do once our season is over. As far as building caws, there's a sure fire, simple, easy and effective way to do this. Cory Ledesma said that caws build attributes no matter what game mode you're playing, and no matter if you're using them or the AI is. Which means that you can just as simple take 2 caws, run an exhibition match with both caws set to your controllers, and just take turns beating the hell out of each other. Then once you unlock all of the abilities for these two caws and get their attributes to a satisfactory level, copy them and create the rest of your roster. Simple, and it should only take you a few hours to get to 70-80 overall.

The more that I think on Fired Up, the more that I kind of like it, say if you've got a CAW with a ground submission finisher (or Buzzsaw kick strike) and a standing impact move. I almost want to give it to Crymson so that she can do the quick stun of the Paydirt, then kick someone in the face for a little overkill before hopefully going for the pin and not spamming super move number three. This seems to cater more to the "5 moves of doom" crowd, which would be awesome if it was a signature move, then 2 finishers in succession: IE: Shawn Michaels running forearm/elbowdrop/SCM or Cena w/ the 5 knuckle/Attitude Adjustment/ STF.
