I have been doing some thinking about this after finally getting my caws.ws password back. There are some requests for public release of my CAWs formulas now this year I do have some typed up where as last year I typed one formula and that was for CWE. I asked myself why have I typed them up some aren't in Efeds like Cal Crossfire and Cody Maddox but I typed them up for a friend. I just have reservations about posting them on places like caws.ws and other forums. I think the only formula I posted in a thread was for Brent Steel at GCW now I honestly can't think why I did release Brent and not Candice or Lauren there lol However I was prepared to release via PM to anyone so I can't really figure why. I don't know why this is, I know I rarely ask for formulas unless I really like the CAW and to my knowledge that is only 5. I just don't understand why a lot "Demand" the formula be posted on a forum.
maybe it is just me that wonders about this lol

Some people actually like the caw enough to request a formula... Some are shady and like the attire setup and since they lack skills to think of unique ideas they want the forms to rip your ideas and claim them as their own in the long run.
I keep my Spyder & Tomaso forms strictly to friends via pm's or msn, my other guys I release publicly because I don''t mind them being used on anyone else's rosters. The only time I have a beef with the nubs over there is when like I said before is when they claim to have made the caw themselves, and they are stupid enough to post this on the very forums they steal from, where there is so many people that are friends of the creator for example if Brent was claimed to be made by a nub there, and I recognized him, I would call him out & so would someone else who knows your caw and we'd try to reach you via pm's/msn to let you know what's going down. This is the crap that's been going on with no help from the staff either, they don't give a rat's ass about the caw forums. I'll end my rant here thou XD

You have to keep in mind that there is a small number of gamers who create CAWS relative to those who just simply play the game...and the numbers of gamers who create Original/Custom CAWS are an even smaller percentage of that. A lot of people with the game don't know where to start with CAW creation, so they turn to others works to be able to use in their game to add some more variety. Think of it as the oldest form of DLC in all of gaming, being able to add another "character" to the existing roster.
So that being said, a lot of people out there would love to add as much good stuff to their games as possible, mostly just to breathe some new life into a game that honestly can get a little old after a while. There are those retards who just try to steal CAWS and post them on other boards as theirs or use them in "broadcasts" without permission, but I myself go by the assumption simply that people just want them because they like them and want to use them.
You shed a great deal of privacy when you post up pics of your work on CAWS, here, an e-fed forum, anywhere. There's always a chance that you might be asked to submit a formula for some work that a person or people like. I personally say that if you're going to take that hour or so to type up all the parameters of a CAW's creation, you might as well release it to everyone, because doing it for a small amount of people is kind of a defeating purpose. If I don't want anyone to ask for a particular CAW, I don't even show it publicly. In private, maybe...but there are CAWS I've made that nobody has ever seen, because I don't want them to.
As one of a few people who never actually stopped submitting CAW formulas publicly since he started posting them, I do believe that which CAW you want to release should be based on public demand, but there should also be a consideration for stuff that you want to keep to yourself. Maybe people want to have a CAW that you don't feel comfortable releasing. That happened with my Riot CAW when I first showed him off, but so many people asked for him that I caved in and typed up the formula.
That flexibility I think more than anything is what made me so popular, because not only do I make great looking CAWS, but I don't hesitate to share them...so people know they can get their hands on my stuff eventually. The compromise of course is that I usually mass release my work in saves and type up forms for the more requested individual CAWS I make. That kind of limits the amount of people who have certain works of mine, namely the "Made for XWA" CAWS...who I only release on saves.
In the end, it's all up to you how you want to distribute your work, or even if you want to at all, and there are many methods to do that. In a "community" sense and setting though, I believe that it's best to "share and share alike". That's just my opinion.

Well I'd probably release them here if anywhere because I was never into caws.ws I signed up because Lionheart asked me too. I understand what you both are saying I mean I think my CAW being stolen and butchered so that it just had my attire on another CAW's body. Or worse is something I heard from Prodigy and his Brent Starr CAW having the colors inverted and a name change of Brett Starr. I guess I am one who says credit where credit is due. Yes take inspiration from others work but blatant stealing is a no no.
Also most formulas I have typed are either for a fed (Jason Honda, Sara Stryder, Lauren Kennedy, Candice Romero and Brent Steel). Or for a friend (Cal Crossfire and Cody Maddox). Certain CAWs I won't give out to anyone other than close friends namely Mel Williams on PS2 because it is based on someone close to me. Saves of my CAWs on PS2 which aren't many lol since I went more or less to next gen only, I don't mind sharing at all.
I guess the work to type it up so makes more sense too share comment is true after all I really get annoyed doing forms lol.

First off... can I has Riot to next gen him like I did Hayley?
Secondly, I'd like the new Lauren if you've got it >_>... want to update the one I have on my card.
Thirdly, I honestly wouldn't even worry about it. Life's full of enough on the side that I couldn't give two shits about who "steals my caw" to put somewhere else... in some cases, it almost gets petty to keep lording off of a creation to see where it goes, or get up in arms when someone reports that it was stolen for a shitty youtube fed to be buried. First and foremost, they're your own creation, and what is to stop someone from making a CAW of the same name in the same likeness? I know some of us, who convert CAWs from platform to platform, can get pretty good at nailing a likeness down. Just look at my rendition of Jack Jyndal's face for GCW. I don't think CCG has sent me an edit for that part yet, just the body morphs.
All in all, it's pretty much you surrender the privacy of the CAW because if some asshole really wants to, they can nail enough of the likeness of your CAW down to make it their own. It's like overly worrying about someone stealing something out of your car or your car period... you can try to make it as difficult as possible, but if someone really wants something, they're going to get it... and in the case of CAW makers, they're not going to listen to any e-bullying or harrassing about using it either in any way they deem fit.
Also, forms are a great way to keep a base for next year as well... only reason I've typed as many up as I have, since I only have 4 fed CAWs, and only one of them is outside of my own... Yet I've typed up... Pryor, Crymson, Amy, PornStar, Laverneus, Aphrodite, so on and so on...

I've made alot of my forms public, or shared them on smaller boards (like the BPW board). I've also kept some to myself, and shared via PM only with those I trust. This being my last year though (I think) I'm gonna try to release final versions of ALL my caws that are requested. Efed wise, or just personal caws of mine. So ppl can finally get the, PoV/AJ Pain, DarkMan X, Mercedes, Duranda, Shayne Pain, Kevon Decat, Alex Shoque... etc.. etc...
Ofcourse I'll keep buying the games, and updating the caws, so future versions will become available as time permits me to do them.

My efed status is in limbo at the moment but for sure I'll always buy SVR for as long as they make it. Some formulas I may just say no about since some are really hard to do might be my lack of confidence with formulas or not whereas some would be because I'd rather keep them to myself or just to close friends. On people copying them by eye then I am fine with that lol because in my mind there'll be it's not the real one anyway my reason for trying formulas is well for GCW I had too but my 360 died and PS3's have been dropping around me also so I need to keep them some how lol. But I still didn't get the demanding of them to be posted publically surely if I wanted a CAW I wouldn't care if I got it via PM or in the thread.

probably mostly to kill as many birds with a single stone as you can. Never know who's going to want it, or when they're going to PM for it.

FYI, the CAW Formulas board is viewable by members only. No guests allowed. Not sure if that gives you a more comfortable feeling about posting publicly, but I figured I'd let you know.
