In 2007, a bold new venture in the annals of professional wrestling had begun. It was to be called the Xtraordinary Wrestling Association. The spiritual successor of the defunct League of Xtraordinary Wrestling, the XWA was founded by Carmella Blackheart, head of the Blackheart Foundation who served as on of LXW's General Managers. With further financial backing by French businessman Rodolphe Evariste Gallas, in February of that year the worldwide revolution had begun.
Year One.
XWA's beginnings were humble, like many things that start out. A relatively small roster of young talent and established superstars alike took to the XWA ring in the first month, and soon it was clear that some would rise to stardom while others would fall to obscurity with the rigorous competition that entailed being a member of the XWA.
XWA's first season marked unique firsts in wrestling. The Pure Championship was incepted, a belt that was challenged for in "pure" matches with no outside influences, merely the skill of the wrestlers in the ring. The King of Crimson (retired) Title was the first and only title belt in wrestling history that was awarded to the man who drew first blood on his opponent, and of course there was and is the XWA's Diamond Division, a dedicated and decorated stable of some of the greatest female wrestlers in the world.
By the middle of the first season, the names and faces of the XWA began to establish what it was that the company was to become, much more than just a successor or "second version" as naysayers would boast, but it's own entity. It's own animal, and a beast of one at that. The floodgates would open as more and more names and faces would come in to the fray.
"The Franchise" Scott O'Dell. "The Wyldman" Keith Wyle. Bryan Jasta. Kayn. MG. Robby Sylk. Kris Cade. Xander Xavier Luther. Ashley Diamond. Amber Gianni. Sumya. Bianca DiAnaco. These are examples of names that would grow in popularity and infamy alike, and in turn grow the interest level of the XWA leading into it's second season.
Year Two.
XWA's second season would attract even more competitors who were eager to show their skills on a global stage.
Year Two brought forth the birth of the X-Gen Championship, a new level of fast paced, extreme wrestling. Those who returned to the XWA from the first season would continue to establish why it was that they are the foundation of the company, while many new faces would continue to build upon that.
Jamie Fury. The Troy Family. Magnus Von Schwartz. Romeo Davis. Tanden Fearse. Channelle Valencia. Brandon Payne. Syrus The Entertainer. Marisol Cardinale.
Newcomers who's names are now synonymous with success or veterans who reminded the world exactly why they are the best of the best. That is what the XWA is about, and proved once again through another amazing year of competition, drama and suspense. Thanks to names like these and many more, if there was any doubt of XWA's global appeal to audiences and wrestlers alike, it was shattered.
Year Three.
2009 will mark the third year of the XWA, and going into this season, new directions are being taken. Alliances are being formed. New faces are appearing that are poised to make names for themselves like those who've came before. Entering the season, two World Champions walk into the fire with the desire to prove that they are worthy of the Platinum status of XWA's World and Diamond Championships. Stars on the rise will continue their steady climb to the top, and new faces will emerge to battle.
But even as these wheels begin to turn and the machine of the XWA prepares to roll strong once more, there are rumors and talk about an imminent threat that aims to throw a wrench into it's success. A challenge that's unlike any other the company has faced before...one that will not use the typical propaganda and politics, but fight head on with designs of destruction.
The one thing that is known for sure though is that the XWA and all that are under the banner will do as they have from the very beginning...rise to the challenge.
XWA. In the ring is where it matters.
