Chapter 1 Episode 01: The Beginning Of It All Yakuza is a fun little game series made by SEGA, one of the few games made by SEGA that I can actually admit to liking or knowing that it is made by SEGA. That's kind of sad when you think about it. Anyway, I enjoy the series and I was waiting to get my copy of Yakuza back from my friend to start this. Now, before we begin, its been a long time since I've played the game so my ability in the combat department of it isn't the best at the moment. As I play more I'll get back into the swing of it. So, shall we get started? In this episode, we begin our story 10 years before the actual story as we follow a young man by the name of Kazuma Kiryu, often referred as the Dragon of the Dojima Family. He goes with Shinji, a member of the family, on a collection. Of course, the people they are collecting from aren't the friendliest bunch and a fight ensues. After that, Kazuma heads to Serena, a bar to meet with a friend. Episode 02: Delivering The Money In this episode, Kazuma awakens in the bar at four in the afternoon. Needing to deliver the money to Fuma, he heads off. As he is sitting down with Fuma, he gets a call from Shinji and learns some startling news. Episode 03: Taking The Heat In this episode, Kazuma arrives at Dojima's place but seems to be too late. He also fights what I consider the boss of this chapter and I do pretty badly at it. I'm still getting back into the swing of things, so to speak, so the utensil-wielding assassin was a moderate challenge being fresh into the game and having not played it for months. Chapter 2Episode 04: Ten Years Later In this episode, Kazuma is released from prison and allowed back on the streets. Nishiki also called a meeting with the Tojo Clan concerning a matter that involves the Clan. Side Missions Completed: Suspected Molester Episode 05: Trouble At Stardust In this episode, Kazuma heads to the host bar called Stardust where he is mistaken as Yakuza by Yuya. After the confrontation Kazuki invites Kazuma into the bar where both he and Yuya apologize for the mistake. However, before he can learn much, some of the Shimano family begins to cause a scene in the bar, trying to shake it down for money. Just a note: There are random encounters in this game where you can grind for experience for your stats. I did do some grinding before recording this episode. I believe I got Soul to level 3, Technique to level 4, and Body to level 3. Though, as another note, I will be cutting out most random encounters as they have no true relevance to the plot.

Chapter 3
Episode 06: The Funeral Portrait
In this episode, Kazuma infiltrates the funeral of Masa Sera in an attempt to meet Fuma. However, he has to be careful as if he's caught, he'll be thrown out.
Episode 07: Catch Me If You Can
In this episode, after being falsely blamed for the assassination attempt on Fuma, Kazuma must escape from the funeral grounds. However, it isn't going to be easy as he's one many against many and at the end of it all, he must face the giant of a man that is Shimano.
I'm honestly surprised I did so well against Shimano. I remember he gave me so much trouble when I first played the game years ago. And, I do apologize about the running around during the first section of the escape, I forgot I had to defeat all enemies there before the rest of the path would open.

Chapter 4
Episode 08: The Accusation
In this episode, Kazuma escapes from the funeral with the help from someone he didn't expect. The brawl at the funeral of course hits the news and we see a little girl standing in front of the store window watching it before heading off. Kazuma also sees just how 10 years can really change the world while you're locked away when he's given a cell phone.
This episode is mainly comprised of side-missions, I would apologize for that but I intend to show off the side-missions as completing them all opens up the path to a secret boss, if I recall.
Side Missions Completed The Accusation Return of the Accusation Revenge of the Accusation The Accusation - Afterwards
Episode 09: Helping The Businesses
In this episode, Kazuma goes about helping the common folk with their problems, whether it be a purse snatcher or people trying to ruin the good name of a fast food restaurant.
Side Missions Completed Yakuza Hater The Purse Snatcher At Good Cafe Smile Burger Catastrophe
Episode 10: The Tough Guy
In this episode, Kazuma still feels he needs to help every single person with their problems and helps catch someone who did an eat and run as well as find a manuscript for a reporter. Best part of all this? We're still not close to being done with the side missions of Chapter 4.
Side Missions Completed Eat And Run Chase The Pickpocket Search For The Manuscript The Tough Guy
Side Missions Started Art And Talent
Episode 11: Obvious Con Artist
In this episode, Kazuma plays the role of a bouncer for a bar, buys a some matches from a girl and helps a bum out by buying all of his paintings. Such a nice guy this Kazuma fellow is, wouldn't you agree? Also, note that some side missions will only open up after you complete certain other ones.
Side Missions Completed The Bouncer My Contact Lenses The Little Match Girl No. 1 Host The Price For A Palm Reading Art And Talent
Compelted Off Camera UFO Catcher - Tedious, time consuming, and money consuming - Crane Games do not require skill. Eugh.
To explain it, its located at Club SEGA on Nakamichi Street. There's a man at the machine trying to win a "Gold Dorayan" for what appears to be his daughter. After getting it for him, he'll give you 10,000 Yen. He'll be there once again when you go back in the store and this time the girl, who isn't his daughter, she just calls him daddy (kinky stuff going on, son) will want the Piyo-Chan series. 5 chicks. Get them and he'll pay you 30,000.
After that return to the shop to see a "Punk" trying to win a Black Dorayan, he'll ask you to do it for him and offer 200,000 yen for it. Get it for him and he'll pay you the money. Its fake though, so head outside and beat him up, get the stuffed animal back and he'll tell you there is a coin locker key in it. Phew. Also, both Club SEGA's have a coin locker key in them near the counter.
Episode 12: Wrong Number
In this episode, Kazuma helps a woman who is being stalked. Stalking is bad. He also helps a bum who believes Kazuma to be his son, Kenji. He also gets a call on the cell phone that Detective Date gave him about a collection's.
Side Missions Completed Stalker Golden Lighter Unworthy Son
Side Missions Started Collection Call
Episode 13: Item Giveaway
In this episode, Kazuma finally runs into the guy who was dispatched to collect the 240,000 Yen that the previous owner of the phone owed. He also gives a bum some sake, another bum a coat, and a businessman a pair of glasses.
Side Missions Completed Collection Call
Side Missions Started Quid Pro Quo (Can't be completed until a later chapter) Chisa From Jewel (will be done off camera)
Episode 14: An Old Friend
In this episode, Kazuma helps a damsel in distress. Well, another damsel in distress, as there has been quite a few already. However, this damsel doesn't seem to be all she appears to be. Other than that, he heads off to Serena finally to meet with Reina after 10 years.
Side Missions Completed The Price Of A D-Cup
Episode 15: Yuya's Girl
In this episode, after visiting Reina, Kazuma gets a call from Yuya who invites him to go see his girl perform on stage. So, he does - however, even though it was meant to be just a relaxing time at a strip club, things went in an entirely different direction
Side Missions Completed My Lover's A Showgirl
Episode 16: Lost Little Girl
In this episode, Kazuma heads back to the bar he started at only to find that someone has been there before him and got rid of the information source. He also runs into a little girl that is looking for her mother and saves a puppy from being abused by a group of hoodlums.
Most of the fights in this episode I cut out, simply to cut for time. They aren't random encounters, exactly, as they are setup to impede your path back to Serena. I left one in though to show off what happens if you are low on health and do a heat move to a grounded enemy.
Episode 17: Off To Ares
In this episode, Kazuma heads off to Ares with Haruka in tow, as she knows where it is. And, its a good thing he did bring her along or he would have never gained access to the place, as Haruka knew the code to get in. However, someone from the Omi Family heads to the same place, after the girl himself, but of course, Kazuma isn't going to let that happen.
Note: There are 3 coin locker keys in the Millennium Tower that can only be gotten here - I only picked up one. I also missed another one-time one during the time you carry Haruka to Serena - there's a guy that you can talk to during that part and that part only that will give you the key. Oh well, this wasn't meant to be a 100% run anyway - just the story and side missions.

Chapter 5
Episode 18: Purgatory
In this episode, Kazuma heads off to find the "Legendary Informant" by the name of Kage, who can only be found in West Park, or Purgatory as its known, where thousands of bums take shelter. However, Purgatory is not all it seems to be at all.
Side Missions Completed
Art And Talent 2 Art And Talent 3 Art And Talent 4 Art And Talent 5
Side Missions Started A Doctor's Duty (Can only be completed in a later Chapter)
Episode 19: Legendary Informant
In this episode, Kazuma heads back to Purgatory after doing some side stuff to head down and meet Kage, who turns out to hate Yakuza, however, as a businessman, will conduct business with Kazuma if he completes a job for him. A job only the Dragon of Dojima can do.
Side Missions Completed
Quid Pro Quo
Episode 20: Hour of Need
In this episode, after doing the job set forth by Kage, Kazuma saves an injured Detective Date from a group of angry bums and then sets out to save Haruka from her kidnappers.
Episode 21: The Madman
In this episode, Kazuma reaches the Batting Cages only to be confronted by Goro Majima, who challenges him to a fight as that's all he cares about, as he tells Kazuma right where Haruka is before challenging him.
I do pretty badly in this boss fight. He dodges a lot and is pretty fast. Not to mention the camera betrayed me a few times. Haha. Also, for anyone wondering, Goro Majima is voiced by Mark Hamill.

Chapter 6
Episode 22: Writing On The Wall
In this episode, Kazuma heads out to gather information, however, one of the bums from Purgatory tells him that Kage could use his help. However, before he goes to Kage, he sets out to be a good boy and help people in need. Hah.
Side Missions Completed Drunk Guy Suspicious Man The Graffiti Writer Drain The Lizard
Side Missions Started The Bag Search
Episode 23: Assassin's Phone
In this episode, Kazuma continues his adventures in the city, from getting a bag back to a lady to getting told to assassinate himself from a cell phone he found off of a dead man.
We get the Bulletproof Vest in this episode as well. While not the best armor defensively, as it only gives a +10 to defense, I find it better than the ones that give higher enhancement to it. For one reason: it blocks bullets and when enemies start using guns more frequently, this thing is a wonderful little thing to have.
Side Missions Completed The Bag Search Gelato Shop Cataclysm Found Cell Phone
Side Missions Completed Off Camera Ex-Baseball Player
Why? Time consuming and luck based, much like the UFO Catcher. In the batting cages (the place where you fought Majima) there is an ex-baseball player that will you challenge you to hit 10 out of 20 of his pitches, however, they must be home runs and not normal hits.
Fair enough, but the home run is a tiny circle, instead of just the entire back fence area. Win and he'll give you 50,000. Lose and you'll give him 10,000. Must be completed 3 times in all to fully complete the mission.
Episode 24: Young Candidate
In this episode, Kazuma continues his adventures through the city, helping people and earning money in doing so. Not much else to say other than I hate the camera sometimes.
Side Missions Completed Suspicious Gun Horse Racing Freak Save Momoko Kawai Yakuza Candidate
Side Missions Started Yakuza Candidate Part 2 The Scout (completed Off camera)
I had to restart the chapter to complete "The Scout" because I messed up. Its best to accept it first, as time has to pass before you can complete it. By time I mean you have to complete a fair share of other side missions then return to the spot to get a call, saying that the business went bankrupt more or less. Continue south and talk to a man who will give you 50,000 as an apology.
Episode 25: Training With Komaki
In this episode, Kazuma finally heads into Purgatory and visits with Kage, who is looking at his son on one of the many cameras. However, he turns Kazuma away, refusing to talk to him, so, Kazuma heads off to the batting cages to talk with his son for him. Kazuma also trains with Komaki to become a better fighter.
Side Missions Completed Yakuza Candidate Part 2
Episode 26: B-King
In this episode, Kazuma heads into the batting cages once again and is mistaken for someone from the Atobe Family by Kage's son, who attacks him, after straightening him out, Takashi realizes he needs to get to his girlfriend, but a gang comes in and tries to stop him, however, Kazuma plays distraction for the gang to allow him to get to his girl.
B-King and his gang (or is the gang called B-King? I forget) aren't too threatening. B-King can move for a big guy, but he suffers from something, you can catch him in a loop. Unlike a lot of bosses, he doesn't shake a grab almost instantly, meaning you can grab and punch him, stomp him, and wait for him to get up again to repeat the process. I kind of show this in the video but I also mess up a bit too.
Episode 27: Saving Takashi
In this episode, Kazuma heads off to Deborah to save Takashi and his girlfriend from the Atobe Family. Of course, all isn't easy as threatening them. Nope, instead he has to fight them.
And, boy do I hate the Leader of the group. I hate any enemy that has a bladed weapon and they won't drop it. Its quite annoying. You can get him in the pattern described on B-King, but its a little more tricky as he'll tend to pull away from your grip within a second of grabbing him.
Episode 28: Protecting Saya
In this episode, Kazuma heads to Serena to see Date passed out on the bar with a bottle of strong alcohol next to him. His cell phone goes off, Kazuma answers it, is assaulted with an insult and then the line goes dead. After, he heads to Park No. 3 to see if Saya is still there, as that is where Date was supposed to meet her.
Episode 29: A Father's Love
In this episode, Kazuma and Saya head out to the Hanagata Building on Pink Street to find her father. She sees the man she loves so much beating on him and trying to force him to pay her debts for her or else they'll make her do horrible things. Date simply says he would kill him if he touches his daughter. Kazuma of course doesn't let them go too far as he joins the fray and the two team up once again against another group of opponents.
Shota, despite wielding a bladed weapon, can be handled semi-easily if you can confine him in a corner. I halfway accomplish this. He was able to get out of it but I raped about half his life before that at least.

Chapter 7
Episode 30: The Famous Tattoo Artist
In this episode, Kazuma is awoken by Date to some startling news, thinking that the man who tattooed his back could help, Kazuma heads off to find him. He also runs into B-King and helps them out of a jam with some Yakuza thugs.
Side Missions Completed B-King Disaster
Episode 31: Refuge In Purgatory
In this episode, Kazuma and Date set out to find Haruka, who previously ran off in anger. However, the seem to be on a wild goose chase as they go all over the city before finding her location at Stardust, where some mysterious people are holding her ransom, in exchange for her pendant.
Episode 32: Fun Night Out
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka set out to have a good time on the town. Of course, there are people to help even now as they help talk a man from jumping to his death. Such a nice pair these two are.
Side Missions Completed The Man Who Wants To Die
Episode 33: Casino Royale
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka's night on the town continues as they head to the hidden casino beneath the noodle shop, where a strange man gives them a briefcase to play in the casino with.
Just a note that I will be getting Haruka's trust to a high level (I plan to go to SS simply for the drawn picture of Kazuma that she gives him). I plan to do it in one sitting as I don't want to delay the playthrough because of this. As of typing this description I already have her at a "B" Rank with 500 points. Getting her trust up can be a bit tricky sometimes especially if you walk by the casino and she asks you to get a "777" on the Slot Machine or all (20) home runs on the Major League Course in the batting cages.
Side Missions Completed Casino Royale
Episode 34: A Game Of Dice
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka head to the lottery stand that the bum had told them about and buy 1000 Chips and proceed to the gambling den through a hidden door.
Episode 35: Bless The Child
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka run into the little boy that Kazuma had fed a short while ago. He does so again but the boy appears to be sick and needs to be taken to a doctor quickly. After some searching he finds a doctor for the boy.
Side Missions Completed A Doctor's Duty
Episode 36: Match Fixing
In this episode, Kazuma were on their way back to Purgatory when they stopped into Bantum (formerly Bacchus) and Haruka spots a bantamweight boxer who she is a fan of. However, alcohol being a factor, the boxer slaps Haruka, which raises the anger levels in Kazuma. Fighting the boxer is kind of annoying. He likes to do quick hits and dodge out of your counter strikes to deliver a strong hit.
Side Missions Completed The Boxing Gamble
Episode 37: Dragon And Carp
In this episode, Kazuma heads to Serena to meet and talk with Nishiki. Its a civil conversation until Nishiki brings up something he probably shouldn't have.
Episode 38: Showdown At Serena
In this episode, after Nishiki leaves, some of his subordinates attack Kazuma in the bar. After defeating them he heads out the back way only to be greeted by even more of them. The guy just doesn't get a break does he?
Sorry for this part being so short but I like to end them at the end of chapters.

Chapter 8
Episode 39: Trouble In Purgatory
In this episode, after dealing with the Yakuza in the alley behind Serena, Kazuma takes off before the cops can arrive, unaware of something that went down in Purgatory. Once he gets there, he sees fire trucks on the scene and smoke rising from inside the park. Some small time gangs all bounded together and took to Purgatory, Haruka was abducted in the process. Date was injured in the ordeal and Kage has no idea which gang took her. Kazuma sets out to find out the hard way, beating every gang down until he gets an answer.
Episode 40: White Edge & Bloody Eye
In this episode, after dealing with the Blue Z and getting nothing, Kazuma heads off to the White Edge, finding out where they are by the Blue Z, after dealing out some punishment to them, their leader tells him that the Bloody Eye gang is who banded them together and to seek them out for the information at Deborah.
The two boss fights in this episode aren't too bad. The White Edge leader is annoying due to having a Muay Thai fighting style but he goes down easy enough. The two brothers that are the leaders of the Bloody Eye come off as harder since its two bosses in one fight, however, the only threat is the older brother, as he is a fast fighter, where as his little brother is a large powerhouse, meaning you can combo him til the cows come home and can parry his attacks with relative ease.
Episode 41: Dojima's Wife
In this episode, after finding Haruka's whereabouts, in the hands of someone who almost killed Kazuma in the past, he heads back to Purgatory to inform Date. However, before they head off, Kage tells Kazuma to swing by the monitor room. He does so and is given a letter from Dojima's wife, telling him to meet her at the place from 10 years ago. Yes, I did some editing, cutting to places instead of running, mainly to save time and get it under the 15 minute time limit.
Side Missions Completed The Yakuza's Wife

Chapter 9
Episode 42: Big Trouble In Little Chinatown
In this episode, Kazuma and Date head off to Chinatown. They split up once they arrive and Kazuma storms the restaurant where Lau Ka Long is located and where Haruka has to be. After fighting his way through the restaurant he confronts Lau Ka Long and the two begin to brawl.
Episode 43: Escaping Chinatown
In this episode, Date and Kazuma begin their escape from Chinatown with Haruka in tow, however, they are being followed by a group of Triads in cars, on motorcycles, and other vehicles. There's even a boss enemy riding on top of a big rig. It turns into an Arcade-style Shooter for this time and this time only and I am happy for that because this section is stupid. I hate this section.

Episode 50: Heading Up
In this episode, Kazuma heads to the building where Shinji is and find it infested with Yakuza and so, he must fight his way from floor to floor, eventually leading him to the roof.
Episode 51: Rooftop Fight
In this episode, Kazuma reaches the rooftop and fights his way to an injured Shinji but is quickly confronted by Arase. And this boss is laughably easy with the Bulletproof Vest. It makes most of his attacks useless, except for the roundhouse kicks he does. Unless he is behind you, all of his bullet attacks will be blocked.

Chapter 11
Episode: 52: Akemi's Whereabouts
In this episode, Kazuma tells Date and Kage about Shinji's final request, about the girl named Akemi and after Kage mentions that its possibly a girl who works at Shangri-La, Kazuma sets out to find a membership pass to get into the place, as a visit without one would run him about a million yen.
Episode 53: Membership Card
In this episode, Kazuma saves the two women from the Snake Flower Triad and in return, is given a fake passport for Xin Mei, so she doesn't get deported. However, it seems Xin Mei no longer has the membership card but tells him who has it.
Episode 54: The Fake Mizuki
In this episode, with the membership in hand, Kazuma returns to Purgatory, but instead of talking to Date right away, heads off to see Kage, who tells him about a bar named "Pares" that the fake Mizuki was working at. Finding it interesting, Kazuma sets off to the bar.
Note: Apologies for taking so long to pick an option. Was fumbling around with something else... My clock started going off for some reason so was trying to stop it.
Side Missions Completed The Truth About The Fake Mizuki
Episode 55: Amon
In this episode, Kazuma visits Komaki one final time to get in the last bit of training. After that, he heads off to Theater Square where a man decked out in all black challenges him to a fight.
Amon is the secret boss of Yakuza and as such, he's meant to be hard. He has three phases in total and 7 health bars, as opposed to your one, and you have to beat him in one go. I refer to him as the "Sephiroth" of Yakuza, being in the same vein of the One-Winged Angel of Kingdom Hearts territory. To be able to fight him you need to complete all the side missions (except for the Cabaret girl missions), level up all your abilities, and train with Komaki completely.
His first phase he uses guns, bulletproof vest will not stop his bullets. Second phase he uses grenades and third phase he uses a knife. All phases he is super fast and can evade combo strikes in the middle of his own combos or yours. Even with a proper strategy he can be tricky. My strategy is to keep him stunned with Sengetsu swords for the most part.
Also, fun little fact, the experience you receive after the battle, 893, is code for Yakuza.
Side Missions Completed The Last Assassin
Episode 56: Shangri-La
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka head to Shangri-La and meet with Akemi, who tells them where they can find Fuma. However, Majima returns and crashes the party, literally, as he crashes a vehicle straight through the lobby of the building.
Episode 57: Round Two With Majima
In this episode, Kazuma continues his way downstairs to the lobby to find the cause of the sudden disturbance and he runs into Majima who is waiting for him and the two do battle once again.
Note: Thanks to my friend for pointing this out... Apparently I made a fuck up in editing. Just skip to 1:03 to take off from the last video.

Chapter 13
Episode 60: Street Rumble
In this episode, Kazuma and Haruka return to Kamurocho after the unfortunate events that happened at the docks and hit up Stardust on Date's suggestion. After that, they set out for Ares, however, not all is right as it seems there's been quite the bounty placed on Kazuma's head and everyone has come out to collect it.
Episode 61: The Reunion
In this episode, after battling his way through the MBI stationed in the Tower, Kazuma and Haruka head up to Ares and is reunited with Yumi. However, Jingu arrives on the scene shortly afterward, looking for his 10 Billion.
Episode 62: Jingu
In this epiosde, Kazuma begins battle with the MBI and Jingu and after it is said and done, Nishiki appears.
This battle isn't too bad, a lot of the enemies use guns, so the bulletproof vest does wonders. However, there are some members of the MBI that use a blade. Jingu himself moves and fights similar to Arase, just with a single pistol. After he loses one health bar, he'll retreat.
Once you follow him to his new location, round two will start and he comes with two lackeys that unlike other lackeys in the game, they will not stay down after their HP bar is drained, they'll get up after some time passes so its best to concentrate on Jingu as the battle is over once his HP is drained. The fastest way I've found in doing this, considering he moves fast, is to use a Sengetsu sword on him to keep him stunned.
Episode 63: Showdown With Nishiki
In this episode, Kazuma and Nishiki finally lock up one on one combat to settle things once and for all. After the battle Jingu rears his ugly face once more. I also like the reference to the movie Die Hard in this part. One of my favorite movies being reference is just plain awesome. Hah.
Nishiki is pretty straight forward as a boss, however, he hits hard, very hard, and can ignore damage from your attacks when he has the red aura around him.
Final Episode: To Be Continued
In this episode, all the fighting is done with, Kazuma decides to lead a new life with Haruka and the end of the first Yakuza game comes to an end. I hope you enjoyed this, as I certainly did.
